SOBER MOUNTED IN DISCUSSION AT THE OAKERY AND CORK OBSERVATORY

Within the scope of FICOR – International Cork Fair 2018, the conference “Montado de Sobro – Natural and Cultural Heritage, a tourist resource of excellence” was held on May 26, at 9:30 am at the Cork Oak and Cork Observatory. The role of the EEC PROVERE “Montado de Sobro e Cortiça” in the economic valorization of the territory, the candidacy of “Tiragem da Cortiça” to National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the candidacy of the natural landscape of the cork oak and cork to UNESCO World Heritage were some of the topics covered.

Patrick Spencer, Executive Director of the Cork Forest Conservation Alliance (USA), Miguel Rollan, ecotourism specialist and technician Ricardo Silva from Herdade do Freixo do Meio who, in a holistic approach, shared the owner’s point of view, were part of the panel of speakers. The conference culminated with a country lunch where participants had the opportunity to enjoy a traditional country lunch, with products from the montado.
