The municipality of Coruche, leader of the PROVERE Consortium “Montado de Sobro e Cortiça”, was among the 35 municipalities nominated for the “Municipalities of the Year 2018” Awards, with the PROVERE project “Montando de Sobro e Cortiça”, in what is a initiative organized by the University of Minho, through the UM-Cidades platform.
The award ceremony – whose objective is to recognize good practices in projects implemented by the municipalities, with significant impacts on the territory, the economy and society – took place on Friday 16 November, at Paço dos Duques de Bragança, in Guimarães.
Since 2009, the Municipality of Coruche has been the leader of the PROVERE Collective Efficiency Strategy “Montado de Sobro e Cortiça”, representing a vast territory and a large number of partners. The implementation of a strategy for the valorization of a unique endogenous resource in the world, Montado de Sobro e Cork in low density territories, has as its main mission to leverage the entire territory of Montado de Sobro, making it better to live, more attractive and competitive to invest and differentiating from other tourist products, with a view to visiting it.
