Biodiversity and Science in the Montado

On April 13, the Cork Oak and Cork Observatory, in Coruche, hosted the activity “Biodiversity and Science in the Montado,” promoted by PROVERE Montado de Sobro e Cortiça in partnership with INIAV, as part of the municipal educational project.

The initiative brought together secondary school students, who explored topics such as mushrooms, birds, bees, and plants of the montado through both theoretical and practical sessions led by specialists.

The programme also included a field component at Terra das Abelhas, in Escusa, providing a direct experience with the territory and reinforcing the importance of valuing and conserving this ecosystem.

An initiative that strengthens the connection between scientific knowledge and the territory.
