The Azaruja Annual Fair took place between September 13 and 15, and it was during this event that the exhibitions “Do Fio à Costa” (From Thread to Coast) and “Tiragem da Cortiça: Antes e Depois” (Cork Harvesting: Before and After) were launched.

The exhibition “Do Fio à Costa” is dedicated to Franzina cork knives. It was here, in the heart of Alentejo, in Azaruja, that the Joaquim Franzina knife brand was born — created for cork work and which marked generations of workers in the factories and Montados of the region.

On the other hand, the traveling exhibition “Cork Harvesting: Before and After,” provided by the Coruche City Council, showcases the tradition of cork harvesting, inviting the public to discover images, tools related to this practice, and different types of cork.

Both exhibitions will be on display until September 21, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Admission is free.
